For next summer, i'm deffinatly having a bike. What i think i'm getting will be the 07 rs125, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with fitting this on it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aprilia-RS125-RS- ... dZViewItem i'm not interested in making it quicker really, just making it more reliable and putting it under less stress while giving out the same performance which a big bore kit isn't reeeeeeeally gonna do but just want to know if anyone has had one or something...
done 3 RS125 top-ends but never a bore kit. they are an absolute bastard to do whilst the engine is in the chassis. you will need a stubby 11mm spanner for the barrel base nuts, hands made of leather and more patience that a saint. and watch your eyes when doing the exhaust springs. other than that its quite streight forward. DONT PUT THE POWERVALVE IN UPSIDE DOWN!!! its not funny slicing a piston in 2
the 154 kit is notoriously piis poor for rs125's. the castings are low quality and will need flash removed from the ports. it was designed to fit onto the 123 so if you have a 122 you'll need to elongate the mounting holes which has to be done properly. it's known for the barrels to warp. the bottom ends don't like the extra power either from all accounts, even though the 154 piston is lighter than the standard one. best bet is to use a mitaka barrel if you have a 123 so you have a nicosil lined bore rather than standard cast iron, and then if you want bottom end, use a pro x flat top piston and vhm flat top head. they do a domed piston head too. but most people prefer the flat top set up. vertex do a single ring flat top piston but as you mentioned longevity i'd use the pro x twin ring one. the new head brings the squish down from a ridiculous 1.9-2mm to 1mm. which is better. but yeh, if you do go for a 154 kit, do the bottom end at the same time, dps and pj do balanced cranks for the rs, dps cranks have stuffers in. and the 122 and 123 cranks aren't interchangeable either. btw ben, my mate just ordered a tm k9c, woo!
Sod it, i'll leave it standard, i'll be buying it new so warrently FTW has the k9b been replaced already?
yep new shiny c's out nowwww. its going on a birel chassis when he gets it his anderson is just thrown in the corner now, i miss it
ah Birel FTW i don't like the wider, more complicated chassis the 250 guys normally use so we have bought another birel and we are just going to run the 250 on that for next season :rtfm:
i wanna see a rotary class for those aixro's arc: 50bhp, 35lb ft torque, 15kg!!! no gears though. friend of mine sold them for a while, x 50 or 30's, dont remember now. anyways, him and my anderson mate had a race round lydd, 250 national against the 295cc rotary, was pretty much even everywhere regardless of driver. they're well rapid. 250 chassis is sexy!!!! i'll get pics of his garage, his dad collects old karts, like twin engined 100's . what 250 you going to run? cr? allowed 257's in national now 6 speed all the mx lumps 5 speed
what ones are they? 31 or 32? those aixro's matey was selling were on birel chassis too . need bigger garage! building up a collection of birels eh
we have 5 now, 3 are MX32's and one is for a 100cc and doesn't have the holes to adjust the wheelbase so we'll probably sell it. the plan is, two 125 karts, and one 250 kart to play with this year. also got a Haase chassis but it's quite old, 1998 i think
