hi guys i have brought some led strip lights for my sons bike, the lights i have brought only have 2 wires coming from them red/black live and negative i assume. can you tell me what wires i would connect these to on the front of the bike and the rear so they are always on when the bike is running and off at all other times, i need to know the wire colours to connect them to and where the wires are located as i have no multimeter. thanks for the help
Majority of people (from what i've read) take a spur from the battery, to a fuse and a switch then to the LED then back to the negative of the battery. This way, if they arn't white or red they can be turned off say if passing a police car.... probably the best way to wire them as well being fused. You can also wire them to the head light and brake lights so when you brake they light up the back end and front end is lit better when head light is turned on.
the lights are red and white, its not for a fashion statement just more presence on the road for him. i just want them wired in for them to be on when the bike is running and off when the bike is off,
Best off wiring them to a switch then during the day when they may not be needed they can be turned off. Im sure there is plenty of how to guides on youtube.
I was even on the chinese scooter forum, a guy was making kits with indicators which can be fix on the wing mirrors and get wired to the relay for the indicator so they flash when you indicate, was charging about £20 and included a how to dvd or something. might be worth a look. I wanna do something similar eventually, friggen white van men nearly killing me at every other junction they pull out of.
