Not a chance in hell.... an R1 will beat that down the quarter mile by a good couple of seconds or more...

I did'nt think so the guy selling it say "This will beat a yamaha r6 to 120mph with no problems."

r6 does a quarter mile at over 100... a scoot dont.. verry FEW have even touched 100mph on a strip so the whole 120mph thing is BULL... id like to even see a drag hitting 120mph... drag coefficence of a brick!. may well be quicker than a big bike with a shit rider to 60.. but this is sheer bullshit.

a r6 does a quater mile in about 11 secs at about 130mph.

the likely hood of the ped doing a true 120mph is improbable in that trim.

"Joe Elliott from Peterborough was able to set a new British record on PM Tuning's Dragster-based sprinter. An amazing 12.30 @ 98mph is "

the book figure for an r1 is that... realisticly they run late 13's..... you need to seriously be some sick rider to get an 11 out of a stock 600....

Perhaps but at the same time youve got to be a poof to run a late 13 on an r6... My old gpz will do 13's standard, an shit hot riders get late 12's on 1.

    a r1 does 0-140mph in 9.89s and a standing quarter in 10.45s at 143.35mph.

thous are getting very light now days, 182bhp at the crank and 206kg wet weight, that ped better be a monster to beat that :hmm:

r1 there dropping off again tho, too fast.. they were once a perfect 1:1 power to weight (same weight as bhp) altho this was restricted for the english market. wether the new one is restricted globally or not i dont know. ether way getting a 600/thousand off the line on an actual drag strip (ye you know 2" of rubber flor) is completly different to launching on the road... quoted figures mean shit to me.. worked over gsx thous and the like struggle for 10's especially with headwind... the figures given by manufactors are the best time they get with perfecxt conditions on there own tracks with the bike fuly prepped wiht slicks blah blah...

id LOVE to see somone actually hit a 13 second quarter first time on any bike. ANY bike. its totally different

again off the subject.. but its not about the slowest possible speed its about the quickest this bike will do, and the guy is full of shiatsu

This post is pretty redundant so il carry on off topic......

I always thought the thou's were getting lighter and more powerfull each year, the 1.1 power ratio was dry weight rather than roadside weight i thought? and the 182 claimed bhp is without ramair....

Fair does the ignitions retarded in the first few gears an the top speeds capped, but its easy enough to get round. Agree that you wont have a chance on your first go, not even your first day, but I wasnt quoting manufactoror times I was quoting random peoples times recorded at a strip....... but ye a 10/11 sec 1/4 isnt a 'just turn up an do it' kind of time.

Surely a nice rubber floor is easier to launch on than tarmac? your always saying scooter times at the pod are slower due to the surface (and headwind), that must be because of more grip/drag?

same i was qouting magazine/internet class comparison figuares gps timed and forum claims.

with out a doubt you need to be a skilled rider to achive them times,
but the same goes for the ped not any tom dick and harry can launch a late 20bhp scooter.

the drag strips one of those platforms thats surrounded by some much bull concerning times that unless your there to witness the run its hard to believe stuff

honda's official release on the fireblade yearly has been "more power, less weight" this is 18 odd years of this.. so by rights the thing should weigh 10kg's and have a million horsepower...

i know independant reviews of the 2005r1... it WAS the identical weight to power once de restricted. magic 1:! power ratio.. couldent care whats written on sites about a bik ereleased 5 years ago. i was there to see it for myself, on a twin roller dyno, on some scales... now the problem is horsepower.. how much is one horse power really? theres 3 different opinions of this so again bhp figures are TOTALLY useless..

fact is bikes are now getting slower not faster. yes the engines are better but are then restricted with ignition/retarded injection timings and the like.. christ take the gearbox censor off, hard wire it to first and try it in 6th gear.. 99% of bikes are retarded ignition in anything other than 1st and 2nd so again how they are out the box is NOT the bike they are..

yes times are times and time slips are timeslips.. bamf in a magazine is just what they have been told or the conclusion there shitty mechanics came to after being lent one, even then they can be prepped for a magazine review if the manufactor wants a good review. wouldent you?

ether way, an r1 will pull a faster quarter than that bike. christ it will run a faster 1/8th mile.

you wanna se how fast an r1 go's down the striop go down to one and SEE how fast YOU can get one down a strip ay?> :D if you havent done it yourself or whitnessed it yourself its NOT worth saying. rumors and conversation obscure the facts in life.
