Need to change my rollers. Thing is,i've just 'de restricted' my bike last week (took the TWO washers out of the variator),and it does 43 on a flat piece of road and 25ish up a real steep hill and about 49 down abit of an incline. But im not sure if i was supposed to change my rollers or not? Pullof seems ok,same as when i was restricted, but possibly a little slower, and it goes alright until it hits the top speed (43 on the flat),but im just not sure if its right or not. My mate, who has a speedfight with zx,gets to his top speed quite abit quicker than me,and also has more topend (obviously due to his nice pipe, when its not fallen off and sounding like a car ;]),anyway,do i need to change my rollers or not? And if i do,whats the 'best' weight to go for. Ta guys.
I never changed my rollers on my 50 gilly when i took the washer out. That isn't to say i did it the right way but i don't think you have too change them but surely enough somebody will fill you in.
i dont know what weight rollers are in your scoot as std...so i cant suggest a weight!! but if you find the revs drop slightly as you accelerate then you need lighter rollers Also its sometimes advisable to put a main jet in 1 or 2 sizes bigger after de-restriction!!
According to http://beedspeed.com/html-pages/variato ... htm#GILERA my standard rollers are 7.4g? So what do you wrekon i should go for,7,6.5?
depends how much the revs drop when accelarating...youd be surprised how much difference even half a gram off each roller makes... best to check what weight is in there 1st before ordering...those guides arent always 100% accurate m8..
Thanks mate, been toying with the idea of fiddling with them, and have decided i probbably will do. What sounds like a good weight to go for? Im thinking 7g all round? Any other advice? And what are the best rollers to get, malossi, stage 6 etc,or does it not matter.
You have to up jet once you have derestricted the bike. Plus as said you may need to play around with your rollers unk:
Nope i havent de restricted my exhaust just yet,not really sure on what needs doing, apparently the pipe coming off of the main pipe that leads to nowhere should be cut and covered. And im not bothering up jetting, for the small difference that de restriction is,i have been told upjetting isnt neccesary, and will just use more fuel. And the question in hand is what rollers would be best to fit ^. Thanks.
That explains it then!!! i dont think your problem is roller related!! your belt can now go all the way up the pulley as you have removed the washer....but as you still have the exhaust restrictor in...the engine is being strangled and cant really pull the now taller gearing
buy a cheap sports pipe. get a tt or something off ebay. or someone on here might be selling something.
Makes sence. Cheers lads. How do i go about de restricting my standard exhaust then? Im not bothering with buying another pipe etc,i know they would offer more peformance & that, but i cant afford it right now. Ta.
okok.. this is all true.. but id wager the stock rollers have big old flatspots from sitting in the restricted position and not moving much. might need a new belt too. just incase they are flat. stock rollers with the stock pipe are fine if a tiny bit heavy but its not gonna get faster with lighter rollers.. just food for thought
how far can you drive in 11 months? never assume all im saying. is it a purejet? if so you need to reprogram the cdi from the restricted tuiming to the normal timing befor your lump blows.. or change the loom, ditch the injection and fit a carb. just saying i dont know the bike and the condition of anything,.. so why guess
Ta mate. Will cutting the pipes really make that much of a difference? And should i cut it to a 'stem',and crimp it,or just completely cut them off and cover them over with weld & plate.
