I've just had a polini sport kit fitted and it has an 88 jet in but its running shit. It runs okay for about 2-3 minutes then slowly starts to loose power then cuts out. Then I have to wait for about 5 minutes until I can start it again, it just keeps doing this. Anyone got any ideas of what it could be? Thanks, Robbie
Because i can remember this guy showing pictures of his bike and as much as i can remeber its a black aerox. THATS WHATS HOOD
nah was close tho, its a red aerox The spec is: Polini sport 70 Leo vince tt Polini reeds Polini speed control variator kit 88 jet Snorkel removed from airbox Just been to kickstart in blackpool and they seem to think its either starting to sieze or thers just a fuel blockage some were. They seem to think its using the fuel in the float then when it stops after about 5 mins or so it fills back up then its set to go again for another 5?
well do yourself a fav and just dont go back there... check all your pipes are on, the coolant is blead, there are no loose fitting bits, obvious air leeks.. check the choke., set the carb up correctly
I know minor probabally wont agree. but if it was me id strip it all completely, RE_DO it all checking gaskets seals etc...plus you get a look at the piston/barrell for any damage...research and work out exactly what the jet size should be, get that size plus 2 above and 2 under ive always found starting again is longer but always works.
oh and my bad. check ALL the carb settings, idle mix, etc, check transmission for anything suspicious, broken springs yadayada if something goes wrong after fitting a new topend. its best to check EVERYTHING
A theory: It`s jetted too weak, runs fine when the auto choke is on..engine warms up the auto choke turns off and it dies...cools down the choke switches on and it`ll run again. Just a theory Oh float height on std carbs is non-adjustable unless you change the float wieght so bowl draining is un-likely. Tank venting could be an issue..drill a hole in your filler cap
