Why do some people put 180 gears into a 172?

    i know this may sound silly but

    I heard and see on forums that some people put a 180 variator and gears or clutch or sumthin in a 125...thats got a 172 bore? whats the advantages of doing that ? :blush:

    think it through mate and it will come to you

    hint. a 172 makes more power then a 125 the 125 bits are designed for a 125

    180 gears are geard for a better top speed.

    slightly....... around 10mph.. not enough on there own and too much wiht a gear up, waste of time (unless you have a stock 125 pipe and a tame 172 road engine....)

    dose any1 no how to tell the diffrence between a 125 and 180 variator

    no i have a 180 engine here but the variator looks the same as a 125 1 is there a way to tell them apart

    not sure , they look the same to me aswell . i got 125 and a 180 side by side

    125 ones have the screw in back plate thing with the screw holes and the 180s dont
