Alright, so I'm new to the scooter scene  and getting my katana next month on my birthday :p

I wanted to get opinions on what are best:
    Air cooled

    Liquid cooled

    & fuel injected....

As far as I'm aware of the katana's started introducing fuel injection from 03 so mine must be fuel injected lol.

My dad assures me that the fuel injection is by far the best and most reliable. Just wanted to get you guys opinions on that? :p

The injections are the future for scooter tuning. But you need a tuning gameboy for the cdi, to make it worthwhile.

Liquid cooled piaggio engine would be the best choice,

they done a carb version till 2003 aswell so may not be injected. my mate had a 70cc kit on his and some stuff done to the injecters and top speed was still only 50mph just got there alot faster than us on our standard 50cc's

Faster acceleration is so much better than top speed anyways :D
It's quite true that katana's top speeds aren't great and I agree as I'm not bias, I know a few people with the WR models and the have such great acceleration just as standard bikess with no work done to them.

As ALOT of people get fucked over by the cops down in Ipswich, I'm just not going to bother getting it faster. I'll make it so the acceleration is much better though :p

    see that's the thing...

When I went to look at the bike from the garage my dad said it had no kick just leccy lol

I know of a few people including safekyle who have the ay50WR
but I have the AY50R which is a totally different bike on the outside although I do not know if its different on the inside lol

When I look at my bike it has exactly the same exhaust as the aprillia SR50... if that's any help lol.

It's defiantly not a air cooled bike it's either F.I or LC, my dad tells me its F.I but then again I don't know anyone else with the EXACT same bike ;[

    more MPG

but more expensive to fix, harder to tune.

your dad is basing his opinion on cars not scooters... injection systems are better on fuel but really dont liek being tunned.. you do prittymuch have to remap them to even fit a pipe if you dont want them to blow up, the injector pumps cant raise enough pressure to jkeep up with high states of tune and the sheer cheap assed componants are just not made for tunning...

so yes injection is a better system, if it works.. carbs are the easiest if you plan on modding atall.

im loooking about for a programable injection system or even a manual injection system to use on a 172 as again the fueling is pin accurate as is the timing fully ajustable.. fucking expensive tho

my honest opp[inion is stick with a carb. even wiht an injection moddel if you plan on fitting ANY tunning parts just switch to a carb, you will be reading up for months and months and would have blown a fair few barrels befor you sus how it works.. if atall

well yes then, injectionn systems do work better, hence you cant buy a car built after 1989 with a carb. prob is a shitty injection system is no better than a good carb.

so yes your dads right, even tho he's wrong. stick with a carb. injection is a fucking pain
