Do you have problems reading the written word, Rustyscooter did not claim that 70mph was easilly acheivable on a 50cc. Please do not misquote posts to prove how clever you think you are, we post on this forum to pass advice, help and banter with like minded people. I know for a fact what my bike was capable of and if you read the posts you would see that it was not a standard 50cc. My bike was 70cc, and the extra power at the higher revs that the streetrace kit produced , along with the other goodies gave it a top speed of (to quote from my earlier post ) around 65mph. I also said that it was clocked by a car going down a long slope at 70mph . I can't vouch for the speedo accuracy of the car but it's certainly better than the Aerox speedo. So please be friendly on this forum it's not a points scoring game.
Mr Bizzle does have a 70 kit, having reached 70 mph, is academic, because the 70 mph goal has been reached, so it makes it a mute point, if a member declarers, he.........or she, has achieved something, then I feel they have enough integrity to be telling the truth, otherwise what is the point of discussion on this forum. it certainly is not for ridiculing others or the use of profanity.
This forums all about correct info and helping others. So when somebody posts incorrect info, im going to dispute it so that others dont take the information as correct, like rusty did. Its common practice to have sufficient brain power to no that standard 50cc gearing cant get you to 70mph. Im not sayin you cant get an aerox to do 70mph. alls im sayin is with Bizzles setup you aint gettin 70mph
All I'm going to say on this matter is this. Read the posts and you will see that nobody is claiming that a 50cc ped will do 70mph also I said that my 70cc would do about 65 mph and that is a fact which was witnessed on numerous times by many people. Read carefully and you will also see that I was clocked at 70 going down a long gradient. What I have stated is a matter of fact which unfortunately I can no longer prove as I have sold the bike. You raised the point of correct information which I find very amusing considering the crap you were peddling about a garage air pump which can pump up your tyres to the correct pressure without any input. You are perfectly entitled to your views but please do not misquote other peoples postings or make rash comments just to get a raise from them, keep it friendly and helpful or keep it to yourself. I have made my point and I will not pursue any pointless forum slanging match.
No I dont think you understand. Im not trying to get in anybody goodbooks. This forum takes up a extremely minute part of my life, honestly its not important. I dont need to score points with anybody. Im making a correct point, I dont like seeing incorrect info in the forum... Your obviously not reading my points in detail. The capacity of the engine (50cc/70cc/84cc) doesnt make a difference in this matter. Because you haven't fitted a gear up. So whether you have a 70cc kit on the bike or not the gearing in the transmission is still the standard gearing, the standard gearing on a 50cc ped cant stretch to reach 70mph. Thats all im sayin.
Dan Please look at it like this, .....if we see a speedo saying 65/70mph, that is all we can go by anything else is a mute point perhaps we need to start a thread called "How can we be sure a speedo is calibrated accurately" but that would be another thread and issue for us to discuss, for the mo, Mr Bizzle says his bike tips the speedo at 65/70mph, ....approx,.... lets work from there, I would like to hear about the gearing up which you talk about, what are the ratios of the gearing you are talking about, ie, I have a car which will do a true 30 mph, per 1000 rpm, the engine will rev to 6000 rpm, so 6 x 30 mph = 180 mph, that's how its works, what are the gears which are needed for the aerox with a 70cc kit to do 70 mph
the stock ratio is 12.2:1 which is good for 60mph at best, to get to 70mph install a 15/42 secondary gear kit which gives you 11.2:1, Polini makes one & maybe Stage6 does too.
will anything else need changing to accommodate this gearing up, please don't say, variator, rollers, exhaust....you know why, don't you
I am happy to enter a discussion with you based on fact not supposition. I generally agree with what you are saying and most 70 sports kits without a gear up kit in the right conditions can top out about at about 60mph. The 70cc Malossi sport and Polini sport kits when used with a leo Vince ZX exhaust on an Aerox produce a maximum power of around 8.5bhp between 9,000 and 9,500 revs, after that the power falls of rapidly until they reach their maximum of 11,000 revs and 5-5.5 bhp. The stage 6 70cc kit makes a similar maximum power but it is between 9,500 and 11,000 revs , after that the power drops to just over 6bhp at 12,000 revs. My bike was fitted with a full circle crank and a 17.5 delorto carb, larger intake manifold and carbon reads all of which havd the effect of slightly increasing the power and revs from the prementioned set up. Pedparts made the following comment on their website " Stage 6 one continues to make peak power all the way from 9000rpm to almost 11,000rpm. For this reason these sorts of kits will always destroy the Malossi and Polini sports 70cc kits on final top speed ". The extra revs available to my bike made it able reach as I quoted about 65mph, it was revving hard at that speed in fact it was screaming and I didn't like keeping it there for long. Happily I didn't need to as my mates bikes were unable to get anywhere near that speed so I'd drop back and just cruise in the pack.
The gear up kit is fitted in the gearbox and has no effect on the other components. I would recomend you to look at the Pedparts website , their blog contains a lot of useful information about tuning scooters.
Mr Bizzle, yes with those parts fitted which you had 70mph maybe achievable but as you say thats on a a slight decline and thats with your bike screaming its tits off(which I also dont like my bike doing..) and ive also spent alot of my time on the pedparts blogs so I understand everything your saying. But we go back to where this heated debate first began. It was rusty wanting to have a top speed of 70mph with crazy accel. What im saying is without gear up 70mph is not easily achievable without running your bike into the ground. Now with a gear up and the correct power and parts, you could achieve 70mph top end but the gear up kit will take power of the accel, so trying to setup an aerox which can easily achieve 70mph with crazy accel is not something which can easily be done
I think we have come to an agreement on this point, I would like to add that a high quality variator and clutch setup correctly should take care of any acceleration issues by allowing the engine to get and stay in it's powerband whilst accelerating.
What would you consider to be, a good top comfortable rev band, for a 70 cc kit conversion, and use this a point to work from
You need to see what at what revs your bike reaches its power band and then what revs it starts to drop out of the power band. Then you need to try and set your transmission up so that it gets to the revs needed pretty quick but we also would want it to hold the power band as best we can. This would be done using a nice aftermarket variator and clutch coupled with the correct balance of roller weights and clutch springs. To do this step properly we would ideally need a dyno and then use the process of trial and error until we have the perfect transmission setup and the bike producing its maximum power pretty much all the time. So that we have for example maybe 9bhp available 90% of the time
