Got myself into all sorts of trouble with geared, from large scale skin removal, broken bones,an a clothing replacement bill from hell -
but with scooters.every time i've had an off or mishap, worst case has been scuffed palms on the gloves, bruise on hip or a slightly wrenched shoulder.
How have other's found mixing the 2.??.

I think its more to do with your driving skills rather than whether it has gears

Partly true.;).,was thinking more along the lines of encompassing professional and personal riding, other motorists have a tendancy to view your existance on the road differently dependant on whether your just an average rider going along or a works rider - they're perspectives/attitudes change accordingly,i.e.it does'nt matter how good you are on either style of ride, what's the experience.;).

Got that one dead on.!,28 should be illegal, never been able to understand why they would put riders in such a dangerous position, considering most limits on average.your looking at 30-40,the t.ats that be should have a size 8 bit of commonsense impacted in their jacksys,
Give a rider a chance, and give him/her a little bit extra on tap, case they need to get themselves outta trouble or at least make traffic flow a little more smoother and fluid instead of obstructive.mk.

30 MPH is the same if you re on a scooter or a bike. If you come off, it's more to do with what protective gear you are wearing. My biker jacket has protection on the shoulders and elbows and I leave the removable liner is, as it adds extra padding.

I cringe when I see people on scooters and bikes wearing nothing but a T shirt and shorts. If I was to run at them with an angle grinder, they'd soon run away, but come off at 30MPH + and that's exactly what will happen, yet they are oblivious to that risk.

100% scooters are safer if you are hit. Your legs are not as exposed so won't take the full force of the hit but as for hitting the ground afterwards it won't make a different what you were sitting on but I do think you are safer on a scooter for that initial impact.

Never actually been hit by anything whilst riding a scooter/come bloody close.mind.,i'd agree wholeheartely, that scooter's are safer for sure in low speed spills, but i've had more spills on scooter's in the last 3 years, than prob.my last 50 geared bikes,an on geared any accidents have been bad/very.

I think scoots are generally safer in a sliding off type of crash. On a bike one of your legs will end up trapped between the ground and bike and taking the full force of the impact. On a scooter your legs will be free and you will instinctively pull them up out of the way. Its not just the plastics that take the impact, they are bolted on to metal rails on the floor too which are welded to the main beam of the frame.

In any other type of collision/impact though I dont think there is much difference between the 2.

It's certainly a lot easier to 'Abandon ship' on a scooter than a bike, as you aren't straddling the tank or engine.
