I've just bought a piaggio nrg LC engine (couldn't find a AC) how do i know which engine it is, what types are there? all i know it's 97'-99'. Also what are the engine like to tune? Does anyone know where i can get a piaggio nrg engine diagram from except sip scootering?

    Thanks

the engine will be a piaggio LC engine, they are all the same apart from the length of the transmission case differs on some models, DNA's are longer etc.

they are very good to tune, for every state of tune, from a simple sport setup to a full race setup they are very good and in most cases, reasonably cheap.

there are a few schematic diagrams to be found in the links section of this forum ;)

in means of parts, what parts are interchangeable from one engine to another, are the engines all basically the same? so i could run a cylinder from one on another (if you get me)

    thanks

yeh the cylinders, cranks, variators, clutches are all the same, gears are different on dna's and obviously belts are different.

    ok more questions
    1. If i had a rear speedfight hydraulic m/cylinder, lever and hose, would a nrg caliper fit?
    2. If i had a rad. system for a speedfight would it fit to the connection on the enigine?

    thanks

im not 100% about the brake, theres not much point tbh, but i guess in theory it should work, you might need to get a different banjo fitting to connect the two but hydraulic brakes are hydraulic brakes.

yes the radiator will work fine but again its pointless, you may need to butcher the hoses but it would work.

im getting confussed, got a piaggio engine and wanting to tune it... when reading about the cylinder minareli (MHR only for minareli 12mm etc etc. something like that) pops up??? same engine? and on sip scootering it shows the pia engine but above is the minareli diagrams?
    shed some light someone please?
sorry if it seems dumb, i've just never played with a pia block before.

go into the piaggio nrg section LOL

only shitty engines are injection. the old typhs and some of the nrg's have diff gears/clutches/front pulleys/variators but its mostly pre 98. get a pic of ether side of the engine jus to make sure its not injection (or old shape) befor you tune it..

Try an impact socket on the clutch nut (tighter fit)

and molegrips on the cylinder head nut.

im sure someone here will come up with a creative idea involving welding but try the simple stuff first.

    ;)

right, got the nuts off and started to strip the engine down ready to be cleaned.
I want to really tune this engine, possibly evo 70% - MHR 30% any ideas?
Also anyone know which engine this is?
Are the tranny covers all interchangeable?

stud nut you can grind hard at the top then nock a socket back on, or just cut the nut off then remove once the barrels off. clutch ether an impact wrench with a crv socket or a nut splitter to get the nut off
