Basic question.....I,m working on checking my wiring harness, cleaning, checking etc and realised that I have connector blocks with more wires in than coming out? For example I have 7 wires going into a male spaded block with only 5 coming out of the female mating block. This appears fairly common but can someone please explain why? I thought that all wires must connect to all others somehow, clearly not!?! The reason this matters is because corrosion has damaged one wire spade so i,m going to connect that wire to its opposite pairing with an external spade of its own , outside of the harness connector block.
It's simple. Some wires feed front and rear lights to the light switch, indicators on either side of the bike to the indicator switch, brake light circuits to each brake lever and common earth circuits. It's logical to connect them together when they work together.
You dont need to connect them outside the block to new spades or bullets. Go to this seller: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/autostar*/m.html?ssPageName=STRK:MEFSXS:MESOI&_trksid=p2053788.m1543.l2654 and get the proper fittings, either 3mm or 6mm male and female connectors. Easy to get the old pins out the block, crimp the new ones on the stripped back wires and push them into the original block. Presto, new pin connections for pennies, no more corrosion.
