After 2 years of neglect i decided it was time to hand the area51 over to someone who can use it so i set to to build it back up along side a friend (wheeliemaster1993) who will be using it for the next 12 months + anyway, 2 years of being sat in my garden took its toll on the bodywork and chassis so it was time to start from scratch. I also decided to get rid of that gay front suspension set-up as it's over complicated, heavy and weak. First job on the list is to convert to aerox forks: The aerox forks line up nicely with the original gay area51 set-up the only problem being the diameter difference in the bottom of the forks. the resolution is the 2 bottom race cones welded together: (please no comments on the birdshit welding, the wire was being a twat to feed) and cleaned up: Whilst doing this scott (wheeliemaster1993) started on the bodywork, as a few of you know it has always been a bit scruffy, the panels were rubbed down, primed, sprayed and laquered in satin black and the aerox wheels we are using were sprayed lime green. (pics to follow)
just for minor frame modifications jefro and those wheels look fresh hock: been painted/powder coated recently or sumin
hammer and chisel may seem a bit drastic but it's the only way to get the bottom ball race off the steering stem.
Bit more progress: The bike complete with 90% of plastics, polini pipe and all electrics connected. TO dO: MOT 70 kit 21mm carb vinyls decent photos ride! not bad for a week's turnaround from a rotten wreck in the garden.
noooo, not putting tha on, its been done before, too common. going with the alien theme, area-51 etc... hence the green. so it'll have alein heads and the area-51 game font for the sides and aprilia in green on the belly pan. (pics to follow in a few days)
defo looks good so far. havent seen a area 51 in real life for about 4 years now, and the only one i did see was a battered one that pulled up at the lights when i was 16 on a typh and thought i was unbeatable
due to other things happening i've only just managed to get pictures of the nearly finished item on. again, apologies about the phone camera quality. here she is:
