WHAT TORGUE SETTING TO USE TO BOLT 70s HEAD DOWN

    hi my torgue wrench is in NM (newton metres) and inch pounds wat should i torgue the head at cheers

    erm, i beleive 20 ft/lbs is a safe bet, i torque mine by hand now.

    different on any engine (make obviously) will be below 18 on most 70's tho as a 172 is only 23... i usually do to 14 and do a compression test. it will need retorquing once the gasgets have heated through (say 100 miles) as they shrink down a little
