basically my belt shredded, I got the clutch nut off, but variator one won't budge, is there anyway I can get it off without an impact drill? Or get the belt on ?

yes.. take the oil pump out... once this is out the starter pinion will come out and you can JUST get the belt in..

why are you doing a belt wihtout an impact wrench to hand? seems a little silly to jump into a job knowing you dont have the tools to complete it.

Well on other bikes iv had you can jam a screwdrver in and undo it, and this is on a runner 125sp, so I'll remove the the oil pump and the starter pinion and should just pop out ye?

I usually find that when a belt shreads it winds everything up around the rear of the variator and the pump...so you have to take everything off anyway to clear it out

Even if you get the variator undone I wouldn't trust a hand-tightened variator
And to make it easier to get the new belt on, put it round the clutch then squeeze it around the clutch so there is more slack to get it over the variator side :good: I was pissing about with mine for about 15mins until I thought of that, then it was a piece of piss

you mean you can bodge the fuck out of it risking the bearings the straightness of the crank and the casing as your basicly prying 52nm THROUGH your starter pinion and sideways on the crank...

just for the record.. never do this.. its pikey mechanics and the reason cases crack/cranks bend and generally POOR workshop practice..

a locker is 6 quid, an impact wrench is a score.. dont be tight

the belt gets everywhere so the whole lot needs to come off

change the oil pump belt and check the main cog. check the key slot in the middle if this is wearing circular replace it. your water pump runs off this and they wear out

Yep I got an Argos one, they're double the price now because they got a different logo on them though. Probably used it over 50 times in 7 months, that's without the times mates have borrowed it
