What preparations do i need to do before i paint my exhaust?

As the title says guys, im planning of painting my exhaust with vht black paint

here is the exhaust:



it looks like dog crap i know haha

what preparations do i need to do before painting??? do i have to sand down spray some primer and then paint?

 

anyone?

 

i used the wire brush that you can put on a drill came out nice and smooth then just give it few coats of paint and its done

edgar i have one thought and i need your advice, should i spray some clear coat after i spray black the exhaust??

 

I just put a couple of coats of high temp paint on

 

and obviously sand it down lol

i would wire brush the rusty parts but just use a fine wet dry sand paper for the rest of it , but that's just how i would do it. I don't think a wire brush would do it any harm??

 

nope i have wire brushed it before.. who cares anyway its a piece of shit haha
