Ok I had a problem with my bike before, as it wouldn't start properly using the electric start. So I had to kick start it, which also was hit and miss. So I took it to a garage and they said they cleaned the carb and it was ok after that. So I was riding along only about 2 weeks after that and I come to a junction and the revs slowly splutter and die. I try to start it again and it wont start. So I have the same problem as before. I kick started it 4-5 times and each time I would rev it and as I pull the throttle back it seems like barely anything is getting to the engine and after 20-30 seconds it would die again. Electric start completely failed. Looked at the spark plug and it was black at the end, so I cleaned it. I'm thinking its something carb related but firstly, could it be anything else? And if it's probably the carb then how complex is taking a carb off and cleaning it again by myself and fixing it all back on later? And why does this problem keep coming back? Time to buy a new carb? Time to smash the whole thing up with a hammer? Thanks in advance for any help.
'out of interest what happened to the bike once you clean spark plug? Did it start straight away, after a few kicks or nothing at all? Most of what you just explained happened to me, and mine still wont start :/
I cleaned it a little and it still didn't start but it would make the noise that it was about to but didn't. If I can i'll check the reeds... thanks for the advice.
sounds like low compression to me (worn rings) but could be a float issue.. fuel tap may be at fault also but deffo check reeds an do a compression test
probably the jets i had the same problem and kept having to clean the jets do you run the bike low on fuel often ?
could be alot of things mine had the same problem and the stator was knackered so it was getting a weak spark everytone has had the same problem with a different issue :/
