Only 200 made all were in black, full tan leather, solid wood steering wheel, hand break and gear knob, ABS which is good for its age. Near 50:50 weight distribution, rear wheel drive. It came with a retro fit hard top as well as the original soft top.

Sweet car for the money, would put pics on but don't know how.

was built when escorts were plentyfull. surely more fun the a stock escort though tbh but no sideways action due to shorter wheelbase.

It was £11,250 new in 1987 but paid cash and they knocked a grand off so actually paid £10,250. In the last 3 years I've seen 2 go for £10K but haven't seen another on the road locally in the last 10 years
This was at a time when the best thing about was the XR3i which sold new for £7500'ish

agreed, when the insurance for the hot hatches went mental in 1990 (i'd JUST bought a Renault 5GT Turbo and the insurance trippled over night) you could buy a good second hand cossie for 3500 :confused:hock:

    Mondeo Mk3 TDCI 130.

Have stuck an airtec intercooler on it, decat, forge hoses and tuning box so its around 160-170bhp now with bags of torque.

Should be going in next month to be dropped on 50mm springs/Bilstein shox.

After that a new gearbox lol

    Totally agree.

This is actually my 4th one now - had 2 x 1.8 Petrols and 1 x 2.2 TDCI before it.

The 2.2 was an early Titanium X with the ST bodykit and diamondcut wheels...amazing car but had a bad leak into the cabin when it rained...only traded it in as the girlfriend needed something better than her Corsa 1.4.

This 2.0 TDCI Mondeo is as good IMO though - sure its not got the toys but its more understated, cheaper and just as quick...18" wheels really slow the 2.2's down as they're 5kgs more per corner and larger OD.

Its going in tomorrow to be dropped 50mm now.

That'll do me until end of next year at which point i might get something else...don't know what i'd replace it with though as theres nothing that really grabs me.

Hmmm...maybe a Focus ST but i can see myself replacing my damaged gearbox and running this thing until it dies...

 yer much more torque in a diesel and more reliable if re-mapped

there are some places offering a re-mapp with guaranteed fuel improvement or your money back and a lifetime guarantee with the mapp
