The 125's I'm talking about are these: It goes without saying that they look great, I love the Yam, and I've heard that they're pretty quick (around 90 in stock? ) But what bugs me is the sound of them. You see a guy walking up to this great looking bike, he starts it up and it sounds like a damn lawnmower. They seriously do. Even with an aftermarket exhaust they sound awful. It's such a shame
prob is, they're a 4 stroke and dont have the capacity to give the traditional 4 stroke roar. Wouldnt say theyre that fast either really. The 125 2 strokes were puliing that sort of speed 25 years ago with the RD125LC and later the RG125F as you say, look great but a real pity they were 2 strokes....now an engine transplant from something with a bit more character would mmake them worth having
the r125 is meant to be able to pull 80 on the clocks, but i have driven one and its just as gutless as any other 4 poke 125. everywhere is driven at full throttle and as said just bland without an open pipe. now 2 strokes on the other hand have oodles more power and thrill factor. and i love the smell hahaha
I'd love to get hold of one of them r125,s and stick a gp125 engine in it there is pleb Nty of go and super teen bikes knocking about now that they banned 2/ bikes being raced
to be honest the r125 frame isnt all that light and the breaks just arent up to the job of 2 stroke power. stick too whats best a nice mitto or rs125 alloy frame
