ok, so im selling the sr125 and looking for another bike,

    choices are:

    Gilera Runner 125 sp

    Gilera Runner 125 vx

    Yamaha yzf r125

first off i would like an SP due to the tuning aspect of them and how fast you can make them but im not the most mechanically minded so maintenance/repairs worry me slightly as its going to be an older bike and also 2 stroke,

the VX is starting to grow on me although i prefer 2 stroke i have been looking at the vxr200's on youtube and i am impressed so can imagine the same kind of performance from a 210 kit and exhaust? and hopefully less repairs/maintenance needed due to the 4 stroke,

The Yamaha r125 on the other hand is out of my current budget but ticks the boxes for looks/speed/reliability so i am tempted to try and get the rest together,

other than that no other bikes are really appealing to me at the moment, but open to suggestions,

now, i have a couple more questions,

i have noticed decent clean runner 125 sp's are thin on the ground and pretty pricey,
is it possible to get a 180 Sp and just put a 125 cylinder/piston on re-register it as a 125 and away i go or is there more to it?
the only downside i can see to this is on the logbook it will be a runner 180 with a 125cc engine, which would make it more likely for the po-po to check it over and notice the 172 kit if i was to fit one?

same question really with the vx200, could i just put a 125 cylinder/piston on re-reg it and i have a 125, but then also same problem of looking hotter if i 210 it,

anyone looking for an sr 125 its on ebay now search item number 180719587161

out of your list i would go for the runner 2t (personally)i think there just as reliable as the 4stroke and less expensive to repair when they do go wrong. you'll more then likely get bored off the 4stroke especially when all the 172's are blowing past ya, plus i dont think the 210 kit is all that reliable.. me personally runner or typhoon theres no better bikes then them

Agreed, a lot less complicated to repair yourself also

you have to get a certificate from a bike shop/mot staion saying that they carried out the work and made it a 125 and send it of when re registering

u can get a yzf125 and bore it up, theres loads

the reason peds get nicked is because the owners get to lazy with security. with the old attitude of "it will be alright" lock it up properly in a safe place etc.

go for the sp dude you wont look back

right, don't worry people im going for the sp,
had a look at one last night was fresh as anything and the engine was clean and sounded just right but no frame numbers and the engine numbers looked like they were freshly stamped so walked away,

scouring ebay/gumtree/every other site i can find at the moment,

i dont like the sound of having to get a shop to confirm the engine/cc change, also my mates runner was re-regged and still comes up as a runner 180 on the log book but 125cc, if im going to 172 it then id rather it comes back as a runner 125 -125cc on vehicle checks etc

well, to be honest i had a budget of £1000 to get an sp, i looked around at 3 2 were ringers and the other was a cat-c,

i then went and looked at a vx125 and had a test ride but that was also a cat-c but i didnt mind the ride/performance too much,
so had a look around and got this 54 plate vx for £550,
the panels are quite shit but i can sort that, it seems to run fine and so far im happy,
also i need to sort a stand out, either side stand or main stand as both are fucked at the moment, mainstand is snapped and side stand lets the bike lean too far and topple over,

gonna keep it standard panels, just spray the front end matt black,

been trying to find the original zig zag stickers to replace the worn ones but no joy so far,

    heres the first pics:

not bad at all mate just put some love and care in to it and it will be a very nice one, i wouldnt recommend you to spray it matt black it looks crap on runners also gets dirty and scratched, go for gloss black :good:

I agree with Edgar go for gloss over matt but I fink those lightning panels were some of the best looking if you can get the stickers go for the original look red or blue with the silver back and at 550 sounds like u had a bargain mate

well ive resprayed the front end in Renault Tungsten Metallic added a carbon evo centre panel, new visor, new brake levers, new stand, replaced the broken grab handle,

i also sprayed the vents in a carbon fibre look using a technique i found on youtube;)

not sure whether to respray the back end yet as i really do want to keep the lightening stickers, that said i dont think the silver goes too well with the tungsten metallic so it will probably get sprayed at some point,
heres a few pics as it is now,
i still need to sand and spray the forks, get a new rear brake master cylinder as the thread for the mirror is stripped,
gonna get some carbon or smoked front lenses

i would say go for the same color for back panels, and do engine, forks and wheels in very glossy black :)
