    Hi
I have a 2008 piaggio NRG power dd and have noticed water leaking from the crankcase please could someone explain how I would go about fixing this problem please
A family member did say something about splitting the case but not sure what that means
Thanks for your time in reading this

The bearings and seal can be changed with out splitting the case but not the water pump wheel

sorry not been riding 50cc for long so have done the easy stuff (renew belt and a little more challenging replacing a new piston) but this seems a little more complicated as can't seem to get the bottom cog off as that seems where the water is coming from

Thanks for the help so far but I can't even get the gear cog off where the water is leaking from
Should it just pull off or do I need a special tool to get that off too

It just pull's off, it's worn and need's a good firm tug as it's corroded on the shaft and jammed.

If its similar to my gilera then the leak is from the seal where you are looking. The small cog is driven by the variator through a tiny belt which spins a shaft that has an impeller (waterwheel) on the other end.
As already said the cog should pull off but I would get a toothbrush in there to clean it up and check for a snap ring just in case.
The shaft runs through the engine to the other side where the impeller is sat inside the water channel within the engine. You need to find the cover and remove it to expose the other end of the shaft.
Buy a water pump repair kit which has the new seals and then Google or Haynes how to replace them.
Mine was corroded so I had to drop the engine and split it to access the whole system as I couldn't get the old seals out. If you are lucky then it can be repaired in situ by removing the old seals and knocking in the new.

bad news I also had to take engine Out and split the case which was a real nightmare and now have the task of putting it back together
It didn’t have a gasket on it when I separated it but now I have separated it does it now need one or not

Finally put the bike back together but it idles fine but when I try to accelerate it bogs then after a few seconds the revs starts to climb but then becomes erratic and then bogs and dies then the bike restarts and it will tick over and can leave it ticking over with no issues but bogs again if I apply any throttle
I have completely cleaned the carb but still the same
Did have it ticking over a few times and did notice a slight knocking noise coming from cylinder
Didn't put new crank bearings or oil seals in as they looked fine
Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks but it is not the carb as cleaned it three times then bought a new one and still not working
This is why I changed the water pump seal
i was riding the bike then got stopped at some traffic lights went to pull away when they turned green but the bike would not move so pushed the bike on the path and notice smoke coming from the engine so turned off the bike and checked the radiator and noticed there was no water in the bike so phoned my wife and got her to bring me some water and got her to follow me to my mums with the bike but as I tried to ride the bike it still would not move even with water in it but after a few minutes the bike did move but could only get 15mph out of it at full throttle then if I got stopped at any lights it would not pull away for a few minutes
so fixed the water pump but am still having the issues with no power when I pull the throttle so would the over heating of the bike cause the issues that I am still having
do I need to buy a new piston and a new cylinder

I would, they're cheap enough. Possible that you overheated and seized the piston which jammed up. It may have caused other damage as well but that's where I would start.
