I own a piaggio zip sp. I came off a few weeks ago quite badly. So i've been respraying and fixing the panels. Tbh im happy with them, they look like new thanks to my brother. Anyway to the point. I put water in, as its liquid cooled obviously. But when i turn the engine over, and leave it to tick over for a about 30 seconds, water begins to leak very fast from the transmission case. So i took it off to have a look, and i believe it is coming from behind the oil pump? just below the the variator. Do you have any ideas why it is leaking, as i can't get the mechanism off to have a look. Sorry for the bad details im really no good with scooters tbh, only know the basics. Thank you so much.
bad news time mate, its the seal on the water pump.. but to repair it its cases split , crank out job..i did one yesterday in an hour, but ive done huggins of them, its still a crap design though.
If you can do it yourself then its pennys for a new seal and a days work stripping and rebuilding the engine. A shop would probably charge £300+
might as well get water pump repair kit ure lookin about £20 mate at most i did one 2 weeks ago easy enought job got to split engine in half as the pump is in the crank case
its not a easy job unless uve ever split the cases on ure engine before its defooo not a easy thing to do if you are gonna do it use a repair kit there like 12 pounds but once again you will need to split the cases or you could remove ure engine and send it to shiny red i think he charges roughly 160 dont really remember but i got a quote from him before good luck
