How important is it to warm up your scooter or motorbike engine before you get going? I only give it about a min before I go off as I'm impatient but should I be leaving it longer? Do I need to bother at all?

In winter I let my 50cc Symply run for a few minutes whilst I put the big coat on give Mrs Jenksy a kiss and get the old helmet and gloves on. The main reason is as soon as I drive off I go up a big hill! I find a little warm up first on cold mornings (10°c is cold as far I'm concerned) allows that little engine to "wake up", bit like me with my cup of tea!

I live on a steep hill as well. I notice if the engines cold I bog down at the first 2-3 corners and then after that it's okay.

Good point! Mind you I'm such a poof that I never ride in the wet and definitely not in the ice! That's what my Hyundai is for, to keep me dry and its got 4 wheels with anti lock brakes and traction control haha! Mind you I wouldn't mind that on my feet sometimes.... as I live on a hill!

I ride any weather unless it just isn't doable eg. Snow and ice.

Always have some form of watch/timer on the display, wait a cpla minutes then ready,as can't audibly tell when a scooter's warmed up,due to bodywork as opposed to all the geared I used to ride.;).

my driveway is really fucking steep, like almost 45 degrees... so i have to warm my bikes up, plus its good for the motor to warm up properly. with the beemer i can feel when its warmed up enough, but the scoot is just guesswork, i normally have to take a runup to get it up my driveway...
