when i go over say 10mph theres a screeching/whirring sound coming from the gearbox, happens whilst riding and whilst revving on the stand. its definatley gearbox related or within that area. ive tried new gearbox oil but makes no difference. strangely when i take the rear wheel off and put everything else back on as it should be it doesnt seem to do it, basically it only does it when theres pressure on the output shaft, even just the weight of the wheel does it. im thinking theres a bearing thats shagged in the gearbox somewhere, or the main output shaft bearing. anyone had or heard of the same problem?
sorted this now, it was because i used a different gearbox input spline(the one that goes through the side case) than the one that originally came with the gearbox, a noobish mistake. changed it for the original and hey presto! no whirring at all, sounds perfect! i think its because gearboxes are manufactured as a unit? and probably because the gears where at different stages of wear too.....somthing like that.
