There is three bolts on the silencer section in my viper exhaust, now I presume if I undo these and release the can, I can slide the silencer out, what can I expect to find? [IMG][IMG]

Should be a stinger all the way through it (pipe with loads of holes in it)
This should be wrapped in fibre glass wadding.
Take SOME of that out to make the exhaust less restrictive :)

Yes it is. It's fibreglass wadding, sometimes cotton but mostly fibreglass with cheaper pipes. It is restrictive because there's usually loads of it wrapped round the stinger, restricting the flow of the gases, less wadding gives the gases more room to fill before leaving the end pipe.

    if you say so

the only thing you will achive from packing it looser is reduce the power the gases go straight out the end can if you loosen the wadding then yes you give it more space to fill instead of leaving the can which also affects the back pressure causing it to be more restrictive
the end can has 1 function which is to reduce the noise thats it

price doesnt really come into it bud the yasuni z is out performed by cheap endy exhuasts on stock 50s but its still a expensive pipe the viper isnt really suited to any tuning at all its expansion chamber isnt really the right shape to get a decent pressure wave going it might give a bit more poke over a stock pipe as there restricted buts thats it i would think the bhp will drop quite quick over 5bhp with that fitted
