My friend fitted a new crank about 3 weeks ago along with new bearings. There was no vibrations to start and the crank turned nicely by hand. Is there a chance that the bearings are not centred? as the vibrations are getting worse If this is the case should new bearings be ordered and fitted? any hints to check the bearing are in right?
Difficult to pass judgement on a crank that may or may not be fitted properly!! could be the crank/bearings vibrating, or could just be worn engine mounts... taking the engine out could of disturbed the mounts causing vibrations, but as i say its only a guess m8, get it checked out if your not sure
first thing to do is take the bike off its stand and try to move the chassis in relation to the engine (side to side) there should be a small ammount of movement but no knocking noises. check all mounting bolts are tight. i would guess that the problem is that the bearings were not fitted correctly, my first ever rebuild did this :emb: . Best bet is whip the varo off and feel for play (up and down) and whip the plug out and feel for how free the crank feels when turning it by hand (should be a fair bit of resistance as the seals are fitted and the piston and rings are in place.
