Hi guys. Typhoon 4t is now getting some use. Had a problem with the bendix having a bit missing and not disengaging, replaced and sorted. BUT there is an odd vibration at medium speeds, accelerating and decelerating. The speed of vibration (feels like something rubbing) isn't related to road speed and can increase when closing throttle. I've concluded that it's drive related, replaced belt for genuine piaggio, rollers and variator nylon sliders, all standard. Made no difference though. The old belt had a couple of minor rub marks on it. All I can think is that the clutch isn't operating as freely as it should, meaning the belt isn't being kept taught. Spring? Partial clutch seizure? Any thoughts please?? Maybe this is how they are? I expected it to be totally smooth with using belt drive though.. Cheers H
Come to the conclusion that it's the clutch/rear pulley assembly that's at fault, I suspect a weak contrast spring and possibly weak clutch springs (Chatter and rev drop on pulling away) Can't find anyone selling uprated cvt springs for this model in the uk, probably have to replace with an oe unit...
Take the clutch apart and clean/lube the 3 pivots for the clutch shoes, they become very dry and seized.
Thanks, have tried that, they were actually ok, clutch grabs too soon so im thinking cvt spring. mine measures 112mm, the only specs I could find say 106mm when new (!?). maybe some clown fitted the wrong spring?? weak spring would also allow the belt to slacken.
