So the LML more a less turned into a daily so nothing happened so eventually this came up (pasting from another forum where i post) picked up a near complete pkxlfl50 there for a good price yesterday, set about stripping it today its an interesting machine because i cannot tell the difference between it and a 50hp and there is no kickstarter or shaft on the engine, elestart only.also has the cosa style shifting rod setup. shes an italian import which has sat for 10+years in a shed. anyway onto some pics took the pics in the dark so they aint the best. frame after stripping, surprisingly theres very little rust on this machine, one small rust hole in the floor but the rest is solid bar surface here and there. engine after getting some GUNK treatment, had every intention of getting this to run today but the guy gave me the wrong flywheel :cry: other side aftr a lot of GUNK and its still very thick on it, id say ittl get a dose of the power washer later on. just a question,can i run the engine like it is now on the bench or do i need one of those fancy stands? all the wires from the stator to cdi are there so it should have spark when i put the flywheel back on in theory. so i got the frame shotblasted (bad idea because the metal in these are so thin it warped the floor a bit) it went through on the lightest setting and came out with some barely visible pitting left so i put kurust onto it(prolly too much in spots) and hit it with etch primer and thats where im at now until the shops open on tuesday I cant seem to get a spark from this, the stator is ok from what im reading and ive tried a few cdi units, dont really have 100 euro to splash onto a new stator so im sort of focussing on the bodywork for now
a one er for a vespa stator?!!?!?!?!? have a laugh. can pick em up for 35 quid new... fuck me most of the bits are indian quality even if there real.... not thought about an et?
et stator? if you mean get another one i dont want another et project, hell the first one still isnt completley how i want it so ill be revisiting it soon. 100 quid for a pk one from sip, everywhere else seems similar,
oh fuckinell its a 50 DITCH that engine and atleast put a 125 in there.... geard vespa's are slow enough at 200cc let alone a wet sponge of a 50.. and by et i ment a 2 stroke et 125.... best handeling vespa ive ever ridden (and ima go back out an ride the lil beast some more)
i might just be bidding on a 125 motor as we speak minor :grin: as for this one, you can get a lot from smallframe motors,if im keeping it this will be a tuned to fuck or have the engine ripped out inplace of a largeframe motor or dare i say it, an auto conversion (bit of work i know but this wont be going near the road for a long time until im happy with it. might just end up putting it on ebay or somthing either
always fanced a traditional scoot but with a auto engine though dont supose you have thought of a auto conversion have you? i have the bottom parts of a runner 125 2t frame here if you want to give it a go
a friend of mine has a pk he is trying to get an et4 125 motor into, would love to do it but i sort of want to keep this fairly original
shelving this one, was going to do another ratbike and even got to cutting down my mudguard,had it looking nice but the high build primer i was using kept annoying me coming out wrong(had a base coat under this also to stop the moisture reaching the metal) so i got some appliance white and sprayed the front end,turned out well with a run or 2 here and there, i was pleased having never touched a gloss before but was going to correct the paint, anyway went up to a bike shop today that a mate of mine runs because he had 3 pk's he wanted to get rid of and i was going to buy one for parts. instead i ended up part swapping the 50 engine for a complete pk50 with a 125 engine inside. and heres some old pics of the other pk, keeping the frame and forks around for parts.
