Been dry stored for 2 years
Won't start, no battery so we're trying with kick start.
New fuel put in, not cleaned carb yet or changed spark plug yet, just getting a heads up on what i could check once I clean carb and change plug.

Mechanic from a garage had a quick look and is saying the cdi or stator?
    How can i check these?

Could be anything from brake switches stuck in to side stand switch. Handlebar on/off switch? Apart from that it could be any connections on the ignition circuit needing cleaning.
It's just a matter of working your way through all the possible problems due to it being laid up.
All this assumes there was no problem before it was stored?
Personally I would get a battery for it first then you can check connectors without trying to hold it all together while kickstarting.
If you know how to use a multimeter that would be the way to go.
