Re: r Rollers slide backwards and forwards, rather than roll thats exactly why they only wear in 1 place, now look at the DR pulley rollers again.....and it suddenly makes sense..
more surface area... less wear and stronger application to the plate... depending on the dimentions you can change the rate that the variator travels so its no longer expedential on inertia.. the ammount of innertia will create more torque at different places as a diff part of the roller is used. pritty fookin smart stuff when you REALLY think about them
Bit of inside info here Joe Elliot tried them in PM`s pro sprinter and went back to std round rollers after one meeting. Now not saying this means anything and we havnt tried them yet, be intresting too see if there`s any difference on the strip.(mind you we`re still running std 180 variators and hav`nt even tried Polini ones yet)
polini/malossi are deffo worth a try boys.. can give good gains on time while speed stays consistant if not improved. as always the lovely ticket from pod will tell all (i have sen you studying them for myself LOL)
mmmmh interesting thanks for that ,i will have to get some and give em a go ,or make some ?material though teflon your the plastic man minor :msn1:
pfft, good rollers are composit.. would need to send em back to a suppplier and have them chemical test it if you want the good mix's. i have stock of quite alot of suitable material but its pritty quick wearing, or a fucker to machine (dont run coolant, nice clean workshop LOL) like i said ive not tested the rollers myself, simply read reviews and theorised. but the potential is there. alike with counterweight variators.. far too heavy, but the principle is there. what about a servo variator with a kenetic motor ? LOOOL plenty scope for improvment on how that area actually works really...different forces mean different ammount of forces in any given direction. improvment is hiding
i always thought DR were more for race use, i had a DR 70 bore on my old runner, only lasted 500miles but that was the fastest 500miles for any 70.
