Going to keep my Honda X8R.

Got the exhaust and cdi derestricted but need a variator next.

Been looking at polini and malossi variators but they are like £50.

Can get one from Taiwan for £15, a so called 'race' variator.

And seeing as the scooters being sold in a couple of months was just wondering if anyones tried these and should I buy one.

I'm sure they can't be that bad otherwise other people wouldn't buy them

Don't want to spend too much money as it's gunna be gone soon.

dont bother, ive had a 2xtreme one, wobbles on the washer supplied with it and is shite basically, got to the point where there was no accel at all, could get an extra few mph down a hill though so must have been 'over range'

will the small standard honda variator thats on atm affect top speed much?

its not road legal, so I've only had it up the drive, accel is good and cos the cdi is derezzed, its revs flat out on the stand, but will the small variator kill the top speed?

dont bother a £30 "Performance variator" stripped someones crank on here once before

2 extreme gave people quite a hard time, even gave me a good bit of bother until i sorted it

and OKO carbs just got reviewed by waxhead, whos been fidling with 2 strokes for years and made his living out of it

    ^^

all of the above are shit brands, shit quality and just your run of the mill shit i would expect to find in poundland if it wasnt on ebay tbh

my advice due to alot of other peoples expensive lessons

dont buy it, save for longer and lasts 10 x longer and actually works LOL

EDIT: ow and the honda x8r engines are crap, theres quite alot of restriction on them, from what I know of

    - the variator (too small)
    - the cdi unit (too soft)
    - washer in vario
    - exhaust

Got all restrictions taken off apart from the small variator.

Well, the cdi goes up to 9k rpm now rather than 7.5k, thats all the standard ones ca be derezzed to, or summit like that, I dunno lol
