Hi all! After long time with a "noname" china variator combined with Malossi rollers, time has come to replace it!! My Tph is 172 malossi engined (was 125 stock engined), with a 25phbl carb, 180 gilera runner exhaust and Athena CDI with the std airbox!! Now is there anyone here with similar setup (at least engine+carb) with PM TUNING variator or with a Malossi Multivar to share their setup (spring and roller weights) ? Thanks!
hi man, Im in Vietnam (Asia) I have 02 Typhoon n want to tune it now, im so crazy about it . If you have any experiences of it, kindly share to join this tuning project. It is very nice to know you guy. Binhpv79@gmail.com
Hi Marsh, It is great to see your works. It is expensive to buy one tuning crankshaft (malossi, polini, ...) but I can DIY {Do It Yourself} (create) one racing crankshaft for my dear Typhoon 125cc . As I already did for my Piaggo Zip 4 choke and it is succeed mate. You know, in Vietnam, every racing parts are very expensive and there is no racing part for Piaggio Typhoon 2 choke, that is why I ask for other country if they have used part so I can buy it easier (cheaper) . Well, for the exhaust, I am doing -DIY- an 360 exhaust like this: (https://secure.italjet.co.uk/onlineshop/images/pm_360_exhaust.jpg). How ya feel mate , look cool [/IMG] Mate, please share any idea for this tuning project mate. Again, thanks for sharing Hey, I intend to build my Piaggio Typhoon like this:
Hi Marsh, It is me again, let s look my tuning Piaggio Zip 125cc 4 choke up to 170cc. The exhaust I made by myself mate .
I would not buy a malossi variator to use on your typhoon as it won't work very well due to the standard crank, the malossi variator needs splines on the crank all the way up to the main bearing, you only get 50% drive with the std cranks, it's only the outer fixed pulley that locate's in the crank splines! not the rear of the variator. I hope you understand what i mean?
i got wat u mean. I already did for Piaggio Zip crankshaft and the power of engine is improving immediately. I fill for the middle circle higher 0.2cm so the hand of the crank will be longer. Is that wat u mention. Well, in your place, if there are some who want to buy the used Piaggio Typhoon tuning part, mind letting me know mate. i want to buy to tune my bike. tks for ur info.
Hello binhpv79, Can you please not hijack other peoples threads, If you make your own thread I'm sure more people will be able to help you
So shall I go for another brand of variator, for example PM Tuning, or shall I earn some more money for a new improved crankshaft?? If you propose the 2nd choice, what are my choices that work best? I mean model, brands for crankshafts! Thanks
Save some money and buy a crank and variator together, a pm tuning crank is good and so is a bgm, i would'nt be surprised if they were made by the same company!
Any opinion for "Top Racing", only brand left in stock Or any other brand in general, no prob with cost!! Is there any polini or malossi for me? Or don't waste so much money for these? Also one good way of measuring the variator rollers and how good work they are doing is by using a rev counter??
I have used a 55mm "top racing " crank with no problem's. Buy a set of pocket digital scales off ebay for weighing rollers, I get sets of heavy std rollers then drill the centres out to get the right weight i need. The weight of the rollers depends on your personal weight etc, just keep trying different weights, you will know when it's right trust me!
Something more "stock" that doesn't need any mod is 52mm crank or 54mm? I don't trust anyone here doing so detailed job, that's why I'm asking
