The little white fan on the front of the variator in the transmission casing,do i have to have it on? What does it actually do? Mines a bit scratched etc and im sure it rubs on something making a whining noise due to being scratched,so is it vital? If this is a stupid question sorry, but i need a quick answer once and for all. :emb:

The fan is the other half to the variator and you DO need it, otherwise you won't move. Mines got half the fin's snapped clean off which makes it less effective at cooling the crankcase but ahh well. Shouldn't be rubbing anything except your drive belt, mine whines too at high speeds but thats normal i am told, try putting heavier rollers in if the performance is affected, as i did and that did the trick
