    Hi All,

As per the title, I'm having problems with my Son's (16) Peugeot V-clic 50cc (GY6). It's always started badly when cold but we could eventually get it running and all was well, he's been riding it around and to school and back no problems.

The last couple of weeks though he's had no problems starting it at all, started immediately so I was unaware of any other problems. Until he went to ride it at night and noticed his headlight and rear light didn't work. All other lights did though. He then decided to mention that it has been 'pulling' when stopped. Quick search showed that this was likely a stator problem as the headlight, tail light and autochoke all feed off the stator. Bought a new stator and fitted it last night (good god getting that flywheel off was a pain even with a puller), bike started fine and all the lights now work as they should.

This morning it wouldn't start again at all (it was 4°C)... We didn't have time to have a proper look but does anyone have any ideas I could look at. It does have a new carb in it, changing it last year didn't make any difference to the earlier starting issues. My gut tells me it's the autochoke, but I don't have a lot of experience with mechanics, I'm good with my hands and can google/follow instructions, so any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

Check valve clearance, 0.04 " inlet and 0.05" exhaust. if you don't have a feeler gauge just make sure you have a tiny gap. you can check the choke by putting a 12v supply to it, the needle should move out a little and get warm.
