Hi, I'm working on a scooter with no apparent spark. If I spray easystart into the air inlet then the engine appears to fire, purrs for 2 seconds and dies again. It won't then do this again unless I add more spray. Does this suggest that I have a spark or is it a false start that just seems to fire up?

I removed and totally cleaned, adjusted carb, fuel getting through as plug wet. If I remove plug I get no spark, no signs of spark if I use plug tester so i,ve been working through the electrics. I get no hint of firing without easystart and, as described, fires and dies with it. Very odd. Could it be a weak spark? Or compression issue?

Have you tried a different spark plug? It could be a dodgy ignition coil or possibly bad/corroded connections from the ignition pickup to the CDI or to the coil itself.

I've run my coil and plug through another scooter so they are fine, voltage seems okay through the stator to cdi and cdi to coil but I,m not an expert. Compression test seems like a good step . Thanks for the responses
