Put on a 70cc Corsa kit on my Typhoon, and am having problems with it... I also put on a Lazer Pro-X, took out brass restrictor, upjeted to 85 for my 17.5 carb, added 4.75 rollers and the middle green clutch springs, and green big spring..... also tired the 5.25 rollers and milder black clutch springs... Now it starts good, but bogs down on acceleration, and only goes 25mph.... When I put it on it's kickstand, and start it, the tire does not move, and when I goose it a little, it wants to kick backwards.... Any suggestions out there what is wrong?
no, only had one wire slip off, found it, and slipped it back on. Should I up or down jet and see how it runs? It had a size 60 jet on it originally, with the 17.5 carb, and have a different airbox for the states. I bought a box full, when I ordered 78-100, figured to start rich and work down... Could this be the reeds? I left the stock ones in....
Well, the plug is wet, and the compression is only 60 psi.....and I down jetted to 78, and ran worse...... I think it's the base gasket for the cylinder I put on....... Going to do a leak test next...... What about the gasket for the exhaust???? Would that do it?
ok, laser xpro and polini corsa kit 85 MJ seems way to high, with a standard airbox and would have said around the 60 mark as an estimate Rollers sound the right weight though, i stick with around 5g on a typhoon myself When you fitted the corsa did you unplug anything? cos it could be an electrical problem, if anything i would say shorting out on the ignition (loose connection somewhere, shorting out on frame or due to water) Do the leak test then get back to us, could be oil seals remember.......
60 jet was std, I now have an 78 on it... I think maybe the head might be warped, or an leak on the base or head gasket....or the exhaust is leaking..... Going backwards on the stand was just torque....great on the stand, but dies on acceleration.....
did you use a torque drive for the head to make sure all the bolts are on equally... if it was warped it wouldnt run would it :wtf:
right, lets start at the beggining.. is the piston in the right way round? if its running an airbox drop the jet... 60 wasent standard.. somone put it in there. use a 65ish if your being careful. if it is revving fine on the stand but dies at throttle on the ground its gonna be tranny related so whip it al out, make sure its all in right and try again, if no revs still drop the weight further. some bikes are tempramental wih rolers/jetting combi's
Minor, this is the USA model, 60 was standard, we got the semi-unrestricted model here.....41mph right from new.... different airbox, 17.5 carb, etc.... Took out all the new springs, rollers, put back original and tried it again, same problem....65 psi on the cylinder test..... Found oil coming from the cylinder, and am going to take it out today, see if the head is warped... if not, put in a new head and cylinder base gasket and see if we can seal it good.... Thanks for all the help..... Cheers from over the big pond....
Had a club friend seal up the cylinder, it's now 125 psi.....got a new Molossi air filter, the original one was to restrictive.....started re-jetting it....tired 72, it was too lean, the 78 was great, 85,82, was too rich, and settled on the 80.... Going to do a plug chop on the 78 in the next week, when the temperature gets hotter over here.... This piggy is fast now....had it up to 45, and it was still climbing, but didn't want to strain the new kit.....plus it was wet and dark out, with all the potholes on our streets over here, didn't want to risk it any faster....but the acceleration got me whiplash!!!
have a play with the roller weight and dont be afraid to give it a thrashing if your confident the jetting is close
