the usual rule of thumb is +10 sizes for an open filter,

there are other variables to consider though, like for instance the type of open filter, some flow well others barely flow more than the std air box,

also depends on how accurately your carb is jetted in the 1st place....

im not really a big fan of open filters to be honest...i think they are a bad idea on a daily use bike.

but they do look better than a fugly airbox, and some people like the extra racket they make, and turn a blind eye to the extra fuel they burn and the fact their bike conks out in the rain

theres a non stop debate about open filters in the winter, this will be my 2nd winter running an polini open filter, and not ONCE have i ever had a problem with it and the weather, the only time i've ever had a problem with a wet filter was when i washed my bike down with a hose and acidently got my filter, squeezed it out and it was all good, you can also by open filters with splash covers for the winter, just to let you know :)

i think it depends what kind of ped you have, and where exactly the filter is located...

on a lot of peds the open filter is sat right on top of the back wheel, and then some people even take the rear hugger off :glare:
