so then my mate rebuilt his 08 plate air cooled typhoon, with: polini 70s kit standard runner 125 carb variator rollers clutch springs tt exhaust polini light clutch bell polini kevlar drive belt all done at a shop and after a week later of it being on, today it seized, the shops fixing it for free, but we would like to know what caused it to seize after such a short amount of time of being on there because it was all set up properly and he was running it in maintaining it etc.. just baffled me tbh hock:
could be a few things....it could have been something was put in the way is shouldnt have been, there was no oil getting to it, or maybe it should be been run in more careful
use some good quality 2 stroke oil im using putoline mx5 and my pm tuning 70 has lasted over 2000miles so far also if its the polini cast iron 70 you will want to run it in for a good 250 mile
thanks for your comments lads and was run in at 30-40mph everywere, road speed limits and because the 70s kit was pushing 11.5bhp its seized the standard crank, as the shop said today when they inspected the bike and are paying for it, because they fitted it and dint tell him he needed a new crank to go with the 70s kit
thats not why it siezed. i have done 70cc with standard crank and seen it done as well...just use your oil properly and run it in right and it should be fine. if anything the crank will bend but break but if the motor siezed it must have been something else.
you shouldn't need to uprate your crank when you put a 70 on im still using standard crank. quility 2 stroke oil is very important also it wont be pushing 11bhp with a leo vince tt exhaust more like 8. make sure your auto lube is still working check the belt and also i would switch to pre mix when you put on the 70kit, allot of people prefer to do this as they no it is getting oil all the time personally i do not trust the auto lube good look with getting it fixed tho mat
