Typhoon 55mm crank

    Got a 55mm crank here which I'm tempted to buy. MUST you do the transfers etc in order for it to run ok on a 172 kit?

    you dont have to do the transfers it will still run but you will get much more power if you get it done by a professional.

    Yeah I figured so. Will need to find someone who can do it for me then. I'm not going to attempt it myself :p I know a 1.5mm plate will be needed.

    (I know I am trying to do things the easy way here)
    Could I not just fit something such as an advance/retard unit to correct the timing and prevent detontation?

    contact shiny or minor confusion they should be able to help you. or alternativly i have a a/c 172 that has been ported by minor for a 55mm crank also have a mint bgm crank too low miles etc and new piston etc pm me if interested

    if you dont correct the ports you end up wiht a 3mm step at bdc.. this means the engine produces ev en less power than with a 52mm crank. DEFFO need correction fo some kind :)
