Got a 55mm crank here which I'm tempted to buy. MUST you do the transfers etc in order for it to run ok on a 172 kit? Mike.
you dont have to do the transfers it will still run but you will get much more power if you get it done by a professional.
Not true. It needs port correction on the internal ports otherwise you will get detonation. http://www.scootershack.co.uk/125tuningguide.html explains a bit about stroker cranks.
Yeah I figured so. Will need to find someone who can do it for me then. I'm not going to attempt it myself I know a 1.5mm plate will be needed. (I know I am trying to do things the easy way here) Could I not just fit something such as an advance/retard unit to correct the timing and prevent detontation?
contact shiny or minor confusion they should be able to help you. or alternativly i have a a/c 172 that has been ported by minor for a 55mm crank also have a mint bgm crank too low miles etc and new piston etc pm me if interested
if you dont correct the ports you end up wiht a 3mm step at bdc.. this means the engine produces ev en less power than with a 52mm crank. DEFFO need correction fo some kind
