    Hey, I own a 99' Sr70, It's the Yamaha based type.

    This is my setup:
Malossi MHR 70 kit(recently died on me, new one is on it's way).
    Malossi MHR crank.
Malossi Delta clutch, and malossi multivar(no over range).
    Malossi exhaust.
    Malossi CDI.
    2 Wave disks.
    17.5 Delor'to carburetor.
    stock air filter.

    And much more.

Since it's already up in my apartment and all disassembled, I've decided I'll go radical, and buy a big carburetor, and maybe an air filter, but not sure, cause the winter is coming.

W×™hich way should I go? 22 mm?, 25?, Is it really important to have an opened air filter?.
I live in a country with a very hot climate(Israel) m I guess it's important Ill note that.

Also I'm thinkning about selling my Malossi pipe and getting some mean Yasuni, is it worth the bother?, Is there any advantage in favour of a good Yasuni over my Malossi?.

    Thanks in advance,
    Oleg.

    22mm should be good.
the open filter will help the rpm pick up quicker but will make alot more noise and it depends what malossi pipe you have?

wait for more replys cos im not that good with 70's anymore

INevermind the noise, But is it safe to use the opened filter during the upcoming winter, while it's raining for instance?.

I would definatley sell that mate and get a Yasuni C21 or something of the like.
Get a bigger carb and try and keep the airbox if possible.
When I was running my 70 it ran so much better with the airbox on,
But then again that was witha 12mm carb LOL.
You got any pictures of your bike?

you'll need a seriously modded airbox to run a c21, 25mm and mhr kit

wack a filter on there, 25mm dell and a c21.

you wont give a shit bout the weather you'll just love your ped!

Besides its a minarelli so covers for the airfilter can be made easily!!

Just got off the line with the store, they ran out of the Malossi MHR kits, next shipment arrives in 2 - 3 weeks, and they offered me the Athena racing 12 mm pin cylinder as an alternative.

    Should I go for it?

Which carb shall I use? 22mm(Dedicated for Minerellis) with Malossi c15
Or 25mm (Dedicated for piaggio 125-180 but compatible with minerellis also) with c21 filter?.

Btw, Can anyone recognize the exhaust?, it's the Malossi team replica, isn't it?

I don't know any one that has the Athena kit.
Why not try a Polini Evoloution?
They're supposed to be good kits.
    I would of said a 25mm really.
I would say the 22mm would be better.
The petrol tanks on SR's are small so a 25mm would drain it!!

All the high end kits have to be pre-ordered... And it will take 3 weeks more, until they arrive, and then another 2 weeks until I get them(shipping).
The Athena kit is available NOW, it can be in my place by Sunday morning.

The Athena kit produces 11-15 HP at the crankshaft, and the malossi MHR produces 11-16 HP at the crankshaft, the difference in their price is 100$ in favour of the Athena, nothing critical.

Should I but the Athena racing?, is it a good kit?.

I've decided I'll buy the 22mm Del'orto - Malossi carb, with malossi downdraft manifold, which main jets should I order with it?.

Which air filter shall I use? Malossi E5(Closed) or Malossi C6(Opened), which one will give me the best performance with minimum risk to the engine?.

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks in advance.

    P.S
The scooter is kind of disassembled now, I promise to post photos
as soon as I'm done with it.

The 22mm will be a good choice in my eyes.
If it is coming up to winter go for the E5. It looks like it should do the trick.
Can you afford to wait a month and a bit for the MHR kit or EVO?
I don't think that any one on here has had one of the Athena kits so can't really comment on how it performs.
As for jet sizes. I really dont have a clue. :(

OK, You're right... So i'll wait a month or so, not a big deal!

    I'll order:
    -Malossi MHR 12mm pin kit - 378$
-Malossi 22 mm carb including manifold(downdraft?, can anyone check this for me? catalog number 1611430) - 199$
-Malossi e5/e13/e14 filter(which one is better for me?) - Up to 40$
    - A couple of jets - say 15$
    - and maybe some malossi MHR braking pads - will it make any defference in power of the brakes?. - 23$

altogether around 700$ including shipping, a decent bargain, probably less cause for a purchase of 625$ or more I get a discount of 5%.

21mm carbs are easier to set-up in my experience.

Doesn't really make a difference, if i'll invite the Athena racing kit, I won't be getting the 5% discount(because I won''t reach 625$) which means that I'm getting the malossi MHR for only 70-75 $ more, a good bargain.

Dyno tests show that the Malossi MHR performs better, not by much, but still.
