Need some help about my questions and if I'm wrong about anything or missing anything to upgrade please tell me Okay so I've been looking up about scooters recently because I just can't afford a car and insurance(needing around £2k+). I need a way of transport and I used to have a 50 back when I was 16(20 now) and they were fun. I don't want to be riding around doing 30mph even though it will make the bike more reliable. I bought a aerox yesterday for £100 all it needs is a new piston + cylinder and I beleive I do need a water pump as the guy said "The pump wasn't mixing properly". I have the pump here but I did have a aircooled bike in the past so I don't know much about water cooled. Is there a fix to this or am I better of just buying a new pump as it's only £40 roughly? I was looking at 70cc kits I did have a stage 6 in the past and have heard good reviews from others. I'm thinking of the "street race" stage 6 70cc kit. I want a bit of speed out of one but have heard racing ones and such do tend to be less reliable(I don't mind changing rings every 1000 miles). Would a 17.5mm carb do the job? Do I still have to upgrade the jets(what size do you recommend?) Size of rollers and clutch springs? (I'm roughly 90kg). Was thinking 3.5-4g not sure about springs and torque springs? Gear up kits what would you recommend? Exhaust.. Roughly up to £150 budget less would be better. Was thinking of getting the 9 roller variator kit is this worth it? Last thing.. I might have forgotten some stuff post if i have.. Crank.. Should I upgrade or replace the crank? The last guy said "new side bearings an seals have been fitted." Not sure what this means? Could be nothing to do with the crank. Would you think I could fit a crank myself if I look up enough guides/videos about doing it? I'm usually pretty good at stuff like this but not sure if i should. Def not paying a mechanic. Also running in the big bore and all this other stuff.. half throttle for 100 miles? 3/4 for 100 miles.. Not sure so many people say different. If you can't answer all my questions even a couple would help. Sorry for the long post :X 1st edit: from this article: http://www.pedparts.co.uk/blog/malossi-sport-vs-polini-sport-vs-stage6-sport-pro-70cc It seems that using the leo vince zx with stage 6 sport pro is the best set up?
hi mate When he says the pump doesn mix properly he was probably refering to The two stroke pump that mixes the two stroke with fuel, the water pump is for cooling (just my opinion but the water doesn't really mix with anything) . I'd replace them both for peace of mind. Or run premix
yeah i just recently figured that out, only £20 for a new oil pump anyways. also found out that this is probably the set up i would want here: http://www.pedparts.co.uk/blog/moped-tuning-with-a-dyno ^ is leo vince zx stage 6 pro 70cc kit polini open air filter malossi gear kit. They did tests and 3.5g rollers + size 96 jet worked the best. Getting 10hp with doing 63 mph(on dyno). they also said: "now makes a genuine 70mph and with almost 10hp immediately available at any speed" What do you think about this set up? and also whats the difference with the stage 6 pro mark 2 70cc kit. What gains would a racing clutch + springs + sport belt and a sport variator do about? Fitting a whole new carb maybe 19mm? what would i see from it. would i have to upjet again from doing these things?
Changing the carb makes a huge difference in power. and you wouldn't need to upjet as its a larger carb. and as for your clutch/springs/belt/variator. Most likely wouldn't increase your top end atall but would help get you there quicker. if you can get 70mph with the stock CVT then i'd keep it how it is. Would upgrade the belt though anyway as the stock probably wont cope. Get a kevlar
A streetrace kit with a 17.5 carb & carbon reeds, Leo vince zx and a decent variator will give you good all round performance and reliability. Unless your riding flat out for long periods it won't need a gear up kit.
