hey, ive swapped engines in my 2000 model neos, now have an engine from a 2005 which i did some work to, it appears they have different generators, so i tried to swap my old one to it but i can not get it off my old crank. i had a puller and it just stripped the threads from the flywheel. so, the newer generator has a different wire (an earth i think) as its black and white, going to the pickup, wheras the older one has a different coloured wire that goes behind the flywheel and away from sight, ive tried connecting it up but whatever i do i cant get a spark. im just hoping to find someone with more knolage in this subject to hopefuly point me in the right direction, at the moment i cant get hold of another generator, as it seems nobody seems to have the bits from the older scooters. thanks
obviously there different parts so they shouldn't work do what you sayy and get the right part for that engine its in your best interest even if it has to be bought new :banghead:
yeah there a pain in the arse the generators i had a problem on a rox one time you can use a 3 arm puller to get it the fly off or use a tyre lever wind nut down on crank and levver the fly whilst giveing it a good tapp with a mallet
if its comming off an engine thats prittymuch fucked then get a heatgun and REALLY blasty the centre behind the nut... if hot enough it WILL just fall off... plenty wd40 (be sure you have somthing to put any fire's out when mixing fluids and heat) wd40 is supposidly fire happy stuff now.. dont trust it myself and yopu could have an old can or somthing. but ye heat WILL free it off
yeah i guess ittl probly be a case of getting new. the other engine is working great so i dont want to damage anything if i can help it, although the puller seems to have warped the flywheel in places. ive had troubles with the 3 arm pullers not finding one that will fit between the engine caseing and under the flywheel, ive tried 2 tyre levers tapping the tapered end's in, then tapping the flywheel and used plenty of wd40 stil to no avail. i was considering welding to it and using something like a sliding hammer? or something i can cock up to work as one. a part like thats bound to be deer from yamaha though?
if the correct tool for the job doesent work then again use lots of heat and hang the engine from the flywheel (tie it up wiht heavy string/wire) then tap the end of the crank (wind a nut flat onto it first obviously) plenty heat it will come off easy. NEVER wedge/use pullers/smack/lever a flywheel off, it will only do damage
