thanks for the gear-up links although most of them are secondary but no they arent 40 topics with the same setup as mine actually thats why I made this topic otherwise I wouldnt of had to ask. minor can get jetting nearly spot on as ive seen him do in other topics people with 172 kits and a decent setup so im sure someone could do mine?

when you say std jet is 56 or whatever...you mean in your 17.5mm..

your gonna want in the 21mm around 76 to start with...with a std airbox

and somewhere around 86 with open filter!!

ive just thought....is your bike air cooled or L.C....ive never had a typh before :emb:

Air cooled uses a bit bigger main jet than liquid cololed!!!

in that case add 2 0r 3 sizes up on those sizes i gave...

but experimentation and plug chops are the key....no 2 bikes the same and all that ;)

the 21 comes with a 92 wich is usually rich.. id say around 88 should be good this time of year.. drop to around 86-82 for summer (airs less dence when its warm hence ac's are fast in the winter) rollers your looking around 4.7 but again try 5's to start..will need ether stiff springs or an ajustable clutch.

So for any 70 cylinder and sports exhaust, you're looking at around .76 with a 21mm (20.5) with a standard airbox?

Can I just ask, when you were changing to your 21mm, how did you know where to start with jetting? Carbs confuse me, why is the jet smaller in the bigger carb? Like for a 12mm carb for that set-up, your jet would be in the .80's!? :wtf:

I knew what jet to start with because minor told me ;)

And jetting depends on a few things not just carb size...but needle profile...air correction jets...etc etc.!!

And i didnt go as high as 80+ when i used a 12mm on my 70 set up...it ran fine with a nice brown plug with a 75 jet!!

most people over estimate how big a jet to put in....they use the size of jet as a status symbol...Main jet mania they call it in the car tuneing world :D

Right I see.. You see, where I live, backstreet garages would never bother up-jetting when big bores or pipes are fitted.. And tbh, you don't hear of much engine siezing. Cant get my head around carbs at all.. :confused:arc:

Well Dave im gonna probably keep the Runner so I'm definitely going 70cc and fitting the 21mm.. soon!

I'm going to work around the .76 mark (thanks), how many turns out is your air/fuel screw?
