In the new-to-me, fifth-hand SH300, I found starting very "unpredictable". Pictures I removed and took apart the starter switch (along the way witnessing the butchery done to the front panels lugs and clips). The starter switch contacts seemed pretty "scummy" (see pictures) so I cleaned with 600-grade emery, isopropyl alcohol and electrical contact cleaner (one of them should work). The switch contacts at least looked shiny after all this attention. When I reassembled the switch, the starting was still very hit or miss. Then I remembered from the manual there is another switch on the brake lever assembly. I had a good look and saw the bent piece of metal that I'm guess is connected to the "starter interrupt". Pulling the brake lever solidly, I now can start the scooter every time. So the starter switch clean was probably completely unnecessary. Anyway I now know how to take off the front panels when I need to replace the headlight bulb.
