Well its the first time I've been out on it, it was leaking fuel which was cured by fitting a new fuel tap. The throttle seems to be responsive pulling away but it seems to get upto 25mph and no go any faster.
It's not cutting out and seems to tick over hppily enough.

Hi Steve, don't know any history to be honest. I don't think there's any air leak as its running very well on tick over and when revved (on its stand). I'll check the plug, how can I tell if the rollers are worn and how difficult is it to change the rollers? Many thanks.

Erm, not a silly question.........I don't know, the exhaust doesn't look standard, it has 'Viper' written on the end can.

if it ewas faster befor and now after being stood doesent run as well as when you put it away its gotta be somthing like naff fuel, dodgey oil pump, bad plug or similar.. probably just shit in the carb but dump the old fuel and make sure its smokin slightly blue when running. might be worth dumping a little oil in the plug hole just to make sure its not dried out over time. rusted rings can be a big prob and if its been sat up over the winter it may well have a little damp in it still

check the air filter aswell as this could be mouldy an wet

Good point about the air filter, it was soaked with old fuel & quite dirty as well. i've ordered a new one which I should get within a few days, the smoke is slightly blue in colour when I ran it up earlier. I've sprayed Carb cleaner into the carb & it coughed out some muck as well, I'll check the plug tomorrow & replace if its fooked. Thanks for your help & advice.

    Hmm

Have a look at the carb and clean it if needed. I take it you bought the ped with the sporty. So i guess it would be derestricted.

Check your rollers and clutch assembly incase the rollers are worn or part of the clutch needs replacing.

This time of the year water and shit will start to build up in your carb, that could be the reason but more info would be helpful. As for all we know the engine might have done 20,000 miles and be on its way out.
