Too good to be true - Piaggio Zip!

£500 for that setup, and 5k miles... not bad right?

when i turned up to his house, the scooter had a flat battery, and the throttle cable was broken, which was not mentioned in the original advert. We made a deal that we'd give him a few hours to fix it, get it taxed and ride it down to where i live, which he said was fine.

So at about 5pm yesterday he said he'd almost finished fitting the throttle cable, after that, i got no answers to calls or texts until today. He apologised saying "throttle cable took an age to put on, tax won't be a problem to get" and apparently he didnt have his phone on him... He goes on to say he can't ride it down here because he's not insured on it, which he didnt mention when we saw him in person.

So he organised a van to deliver it, before 5 o'clock today. at 18:30 today the van was apparently on the way to pick him and the scooter up. Hour later, 19:30 the van still hasnt picked him up, he said he would "call them now" and since then, i've tried calling him and texting him. Nothing at all.

Just had a quick look on gumtree to see if there's any other peds and look what i find! The same scooter with the same advert put up an hour ago, but added at the end "needs throttle cable fitting, does run needs to go today".

This guy is clearly a liar and i don't understand what he's trying to do, messing me about like this. I told him several times i was serious about buying it, he even gave me another kick start case which i still have. He told me the tax was done, and the throttle cable. Yet in the advert it says it needs fitting and it's still sorn'ed! A complete waste of time and i'd appreciate it if some people would help spamming his number because he's just complete idiot scum!

 

I wouldn't have gone near it just from looking at the advert.
Rule number one: If it looks too good to be true, it most probably is.
It's had so much stuff done to it, to sell it for that much would be stupid, there's a very high chance that it's fucked otherwise he wouldn't have messed you about so much about the throttle cable and what not and most of all, wouldn't be selling it so cheap. Either that or it's nicked

 

i added up all the parts and it came to £520, that's not including the zip SP panels.. i just don't see what he was trying to achieve by lying!

 

Half a bag of sand, for that pile of crap?! He's 'avin a larf, mate! It's a Barried up shed of a bike that Bangla Barry hasn't got a clue how to fix properly. Give it a swerve.

got a text from him today saying that it's not him advertising it, strange right? he said he'd send me a video of it running and revving to prove he's done the throttle cable and a picture of the tax, still waiting

 

i've told him before any money is handed over i'll be test riding it

don't think he celebrates christmas, he's say "when i can today will get delivery". Don't see how he's going to find someone to deliver this late on christmas eve, something isnt right is it?

 

He's giving a good deal because he'd probs rather be spending the money than slaving away in the garage the day before christmas...not that unreasonable lol

Ask if he'll take less, fix it yourself and enjoy your bargain..like a scooter boss

 

the thing is, he has told me the new throttle cable has been fitted, still waiting for the video evidence though

 

it's also currently sorned, is there a way to check that with the reg?

edit: just checked it on the DVLA and it's still sorn'd

 

i dont see how he's going to sell it when he's constantly lying about it
