My 2007 TKR2 50cc is the '307 WRC Rally Victories' version in Torero Red with the signatures of Marko Martin and Marcus Gronholm on it, as well as a plethora of advertising stickers for Clarion, Pirelli, etc. What strikes me as being odd about this livery is that as far as I am aware, Peugeot never had any rally victories with the 307, due to it's lack of reliability, some disqualifications surrounding illegal water pumps and a crash that Marko Martin had that killed his co-driver. Marcus Gronholm didn't like the 307 and left Peugeot to go to Ford. It seems like a colossal fail on Peugeot's part to plaster a bike with livery about rally victories that never happened as far as I am aware, but anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. That having been said, I plan to change the bodywork sometime this year for a TNT aftermarket set of panels and re-spray them in red, but I don't really want this tacky artwork on it. I was thinking of some more tasteful retro looking Peugeot aluminium badges like this:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brushed-A...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5660c11540 Or this, for the rear of the side panels:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Enamel-Ch...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c3b8d1484 With maybe this, to replace the original lion badge on the front panel:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Enamel-Ch...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c3b8d146c Whatever gets used, I want it to be tasteful and understated, not 'Barry' at all. Any suggestions as to what else I might use such as decals for this project?
I quite like the idea of that last badge modified with a French Tricolour around the lettering and lion's head, to give it that old school enamelled badge look. That could look really cool.
Here's what I was thinking of for the front badge. This is after a quick mess around in Photoshop. What do you think?
Whatever I use it has to be 'Not Barry' and have a touch of class, while being in keeping with the bike. Enamelling the badge like I've Shopped it above wouldn't be difficult and it adds something to it.
3 WRC victories for the 307 and Gronholm, Finland 2004, Finland 2005, Japan 2005 but it never won a drivers or manufacturers title. Sorry to be a total anorak btw. Like the badge, I think it works well
It's OK Gemma, I just got the impression that Peugeot weren't that successful at rallying and I bow to your superior knowledge. I am so going to do that badge for my TKR, I like it so much more than the chrome lion badge. I have a few other 'retro' ideas that I'm working on that I may try out on my machine; the old grey slush is working on these in the background.
