    Hi

I was changing my rollers on my 2stroke neos and was all going well...until i was tightening up the nut. I thought the locking tool was in position properly until the nut torqued up then there was a ratchet type sound and it all turned clockwise.

Should i be able to turn the variator by hand in both directions?
I do think i have done some done damage somehow as the bike sounds kinda grinzing and whirring now when running.

Is there a chance i have knackered bearings or something before i strip it down?

When i rev the bike im hearing silly little things that i never noticed before like body panels vibrating slighly.

    Thanks

So are you saying the locking Tool sliped while nipping the nut up?

If so the only damage would be a few broken teeth on the varaitor end plate, that wouldn’t effect its running

You should be able to turn the varaitor with your hand the only resistance will be the compression and it can move in both directions

Use thread lock on the locking nut!!!

Cheers for the reply mate and fingers crossed its not as bad as i thought and its what you say it is
Will have a look when i get home. Worried it was something on the other end of the shaft.

Could i of forced the starter motor the wrong way?

    Thanks for the input

No worries, Not really sure what it is you think you’ve done? but the only thing that would happen if you over tightened the nut is it could snap off and if it slipped off the locking tool that’s not a big deal

There’s a shoulder that the nut will hit if it’s over torqued so there’s no risk of crushing bearings or any thing like that

On that motor you should use a new nut and conical washer every time it’s removed it’s not a must but recommended
