As the topic states - how to do it? I need to get a better fork for the fun one of my bikes, and i've previously had good results with stiffer springs and different oil in SR50 forks. But the typhoon fork - I just can't seem to find out how to disassemble it, to give it a "racing" overhaul (i don't wanna shell out a fortune for an F32S if it can be avoided, by merely changing the fork oil). Any clues for me?
the typhoon forks are shit (its a fact, the best bike piaggio build and the forks plain suck) rebuilding them is usually more expensive than replacing them entirely if there old and even then heavier oil wont make all that much difference as there rock solid as it is, theres only a few inches of travel on them afterall... your options are, deal wiht the typh forks (on a track, not a good idea) replace with ice forks (rwu even forks as they have the same stuff in each leg unlike the typhs old "we will put the dampner in one and the shock in the other" method) find yourself some gilera forks and shorten the stantions and burn compress the springs (heat them up under comporession and let them cool an inch shorter) install wiht heavier oil...or find some other legs that fit into the top section of the forks.. aerox may work, or sr.. buy some dopler forks (much better than stock but not amazingly expensive) or plain just buy some f32's typh forks suck, its about the only thing on a typh that does suck balls. but hey, what can ya do... ether way dont attempt to rebuild the original there a pain and sheer caveman desighn. just so you know you remove the bottom of the fork (wiht the wheel and caliper mounts) by removing the bottom bolt, heating then using a puller/hammer... pull the seals out then get the circlips out. undoo the one bolt at the top of the fork and it all should start falling out (usually in lots of silly peices so you have no idea how to reassemble them) there have been a few people using gold seals or refabricating the original seals and the like but again there poor quality forks and wont last a year... they just dont keep the oil inside them
