The seller of my TGB Classic arrived yesterday on the bike, paperwork signed, cash handed over and it's all mine.

First things first, it needed a tidy up. Got it washed down, then brushed all the surface rust off the exhaust and sprayed with black high temperature paint, a big improvement.

Today it was the turn of the wheels which were pretty rusty in places. Got them washed and sanded down, then a few coats of wheel paint.

It's starting to look OK. First run on it tomorrow, a short 2 mile hop up to work. Fingers crossed...

I've noticed a few people on eBay selling derestricted CDI units for the bike. Apparently simply plugging this in will free up the engine and give a top speed of around 40mph. Handy for in the town, but are there any draw backs I wonder ?

I've now had the TGB for a week with patchy results. On two mornings it refused to start properly. The engine would fire but would then die away quickly and it wouldn't re-start. The other three mornings it started and ran fine (much faster acceleration than my previous 4-strokes), but it idled badly, the engine would die at traffic lights if I didn't keep some throttle on.

The general consensus from fellow scooterists was a blocked jet/dirty carb. So this weekend I delved into an engine for the first time in my life ! Made a short video of the experience which is on Youtube:

Still waiting for a new fuel filter and line to arrive from eBay. On top of that I'll change the spark plug and then try to fire it up later this week...keep your fingers crossed !
