Can't seem to get the throttle slide to go in properly. When I push it down it goes down fine, then when I try and tighten up the screw on top, it spins around. It wont screw into the right position. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a solution to this? Thanks.
i did, then when i try and put the cap on (the throttle cable cap thing) it spins, so I can't get it to line up.
there should be a little plastic/metal pip inside where the slide goes.. chances are youve forced it out. look for a hole on the inside wall then on the outside push whatever is blocking the hole then line this up with the slide when you bang it back together... just hope you havent fucked/lost the pip as its a nightmare to fix without jus buying a new one an there a bastard to get bits for
you were spot on minor, and with yours and wobbly's help i got that pip back in (hammer and screwdriver). Now I just need to get it to idle. At the minute it takes lots of kicks to start, then it idles very low, then it has a big rev and then cuts out. :wtf:
idle mix ! have a play with that so that it responds well when you blip the throttle and dosent bog or anything then get it warm and set the idle speed
Dont think it's idle mix, as I havn't altered it from when it was working well. taking in air sounds right. I can't think from where tho.
missing o ring in the top of the carb? missing vacume pipe.. have you loosened anything off? is the needle in the slide? is the plate ontop of the needle?
make sure its not the other way round... put the top on the cable, then the spring bunched up in your hand. needle in the slide, cable in the slide then place the plate in and let go of the cable
still no luck. tried most things. It takes a couple of kicks to start. Then very low idle speed. Then very high rev, then dies, and if i blip the throttle, it'll stick for a few seconds (not the actual throttle) but the revs will stay high for a second or two without throttle, then drop again.
ye deffo sounds like air.. does it pop a little? if its got the airbox on spray wd40 around the carb when its running.. if the revs change atall theres an airleek so whip everything off, clean and assmeble with a fine smear of fuel resistant sealant (ideal would be lap the reedblock top face) but may be a split somwhere.. ether way this will tell you wether to mess with the idle mix
i reckon we've got an air leak, it wont settle down on the idle. I start it and it idles really high, then dies down and cuts out, then wont start again. Also when i take the throttle slide out its fairly wet with oil i think- i dno if this is right?
